In The News

Friday, August 13th -Today was our first sail aboard IL MORO di VENEZIA IV and has been a long time coming ! Everything went great and the boat sails really well. We had a tiny headsail up so we did not stress the rig too much on our first trip out and we still hit 12.5 knots. Unfortunately we did have several angry and unnecessary confrontations with the boats from Dennis Conner's America's Cup Experience. While we enjoyed the interaction of sailing near their boats they apparently need to learn the right of way rules on the water. Luckily for us we had a professional photographer on board that took 300+ photos today.

Saturday, July 31st -Last day of a very busy month, many thanks to everyone. The coldest July in San Diego in 77 years ? We had sun today for our sail so lets hope the spell is broken.

Friday, July 30th -Another great day on the bay, cloudy but good winds and great group of people. Go Keene State !

Wednesday, July 28th -Finally a day off but who wants that ? Back to sailing tomorrow.

Tueday, July 27th -Another public charter today. This has been our best month ever and we have the greatest customers. Thank you all !!!

Monday, July 26th -Today is a day for family and friends. We went off shore and used the spinnaker ! We would so love it if the Coast Guard would let us use it with passengers.

Sunday, July 25th -Public sail today

Saturday, July 24th -We have a double today ! Public charter early and a private later in the day.

Friday, July 23rd -The beginning of another busy few days with public charter today

Wednesday, July 14th -Another great day sailing, winds were perfect for our boat. Il Moro still inching closer. Here's a look at the mast and boom being readied in the boat yard.

Thursday, July 8th -So the story today is that Navtec expects to have delivery of our long awaited parts for Il Moro tomorrow. Once they finish assembly on their end they will ship to us and that means we expect to have them next week. Ray Pope at Rigworks then plans to do final assembly on our mast and step it the following week.

Sunday, July 4th -Gathering spinnaker data today to apply for the PHRF rating for Il Moro

Monday, June 28th - Il Moro is getting a bit closer but still waiting on a few more parts from Navtec. Rigworks has installed a new halyard lock, we were lucky to come up with the original drawing of the part to have it remade. It is much simpler than the lock on USA-11 and I expect it will be even more reliable.

Saturday, June26th - Public Charter today on the bay, we still have room for more guests so call Captain Lynn Hanna at (619) 255-4707 ! Our own "Sails" Representative Marnie Buddo is off sailing on Peligroso during the Ullman Sails Long Beach race week. Our owners, Steve & Mark, were expected to be in Cowes, England for the next couple of weeks racing aboard Eleonora for the Westward Cup Races but work on Il Moro has kept them in San Diego. The two of them raced aboard the same schooner last year in Monaco during Monaco Race week. Pierre-Marie Quincy and his wife Sarah were able to make the trip to Cowes, they are both regular crew members aboar Stars & Stripes USA-11.

Friday, June 25th - So I guess it is summer and business is going crazy again. What better than enjoying a sailing on San Diego Bay on a beautifully restored America's Cup racing yacht ? Come and join us for one of our public charters on Stars & Stripes USA-11.

Wednesday, June 23rd - Annie Gardner Nelson would really love to take your company out for an experience Team Building in San Diego on Stars & Stripes USA-11. For those of you not familiar with Annie, she was a navigator on the all women's America's Cup Team "America3" in 1995. Her dedication and experience are apparent and the excitement and enjoyment your employees will have is guaranteed.

Tuesday, June 22nd - Still waiting for parts for our rod rigging from Navtec for Il Moro di Venezia IV. In the mean time, we have removed all of the Lewmar pedestal and had them repainted by Wally Eaton on Infinity Yacht Services. Winches have all been serviced and reinstalled and the boat is sitting at the dock at Kona Kai Marina. The mast and boom have been stripped and repainted, they are waiting at Knight and Carver Boat Yard. We hope everything will come together soon and Rigworks will be able to finish up the project.
